Thank Your Lucky Stars

Carroll Academy girls basketball team 9 – Opponents 69. Another game: Carroll 1 – Opponents 44.
And so it went throughout the year and how it will continue to go into the foreseeable future. This is a tale of tragedy, and it has absolutely nothing to do with sports or the misfortunes of the school basketball team. If you don’t like to weep, don’t read this story.

  1. Oh, no way, man! This is terrible. The Carroll Academy girls should have been matched up with a comparable squad. All this is doing is reinforcing the impression that they’re losers.

I refereed for a collegiate women’s tennis team that went 1-15 for this season–the bottom of the heap. But they have something to look forward to next year. The Carroll Academy squad needs some positive reinforcement, and it doesn’t appear to be on the horizon.

  2. My point was that it is not the squad that needs help but the girls, all of whom have shattered lives.

  3. Yes, I agree. I fear it’s too late for them, but maybe not for next year’s team.
